Depression is a common problem of many people these days, and of course, it is important that you have to take action when you are feeling the signs of depression so you won't succumb on its many bad effects in your health and in your life as well. You have to keep in mind that depression can lead to thoughts of suicide, thus do not wait to reach this stage. Find ways to combat depression and live a happy, more fulfilling life.

- Learn ways to overcome negative thoughts. Negativity leads to undesirable thoughts of inadequacy and sadness in your life. Learn positive affirmation or meditation. This will help practice your mind to think positively and defeat negative thoughts.

Take time to go outside and enjoy the outdoors. You can also find an outdoor activity that allows you to get more sunshine like walking your dogs or cycling with a friend.

The more you are occupied, and the more you enjoy your free time, the less likely that depression can take over your life.

-Seek professional help. Although you may be tempted to cope up with depression yourself, it is wise to seek professional help if you think you cannot do it alone. Do not wait for it to worsen. There are therapies available to help you cope up with depression and fight it. Cognitive behavioral therapy is one effective way to help combat depression, so acknowledge that there are people who can help you get over with depression.

Although you can do things yourself to help fight depression, it is important to acknowledge that there are other people who can also help you with your problem. You don't have to face it all alone. Find people you can trust and allow them to help you with it.
