Learn More About HIV Anxiety - Finally Understand What it Means

HIV or Human Immunodeficiency Virus is one of the most dreaded viruses in the world because its development leads to the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome or more popularly known as AIDS. Since its discovery in the 1980s, AIDS has become one of the most fatal diseases in the world. It has already taken the lives of millions of people all over the world. This can be attributed to the fact that there is no cure for AIDS.

HIV is transmitted to different means. The most common means of HIV transmission is through sexual contact. It can also be transmitted through blood transfusion or childbirth. Various symptoms can be attributed to HIV. The most common symptoms are rapid weight loss, swollen lymph glands in the groin, armpits, or neck, unexplained fatigue, recurring fever or night sweats, and diarrhea that lasts for more than a week.

Since sexual contact is the most common means of transmission of HIV, people who had unprotected sexual relations with multiple partners or with sexual workers experience HIV anxiety. This means that they experience excessive worrying about having HIV. They regularly check for any symptoms of HIV that they may have. As a result of this excessive worrying, they lose sleep and experience depression.

HIV anxiety deprives people the chance to live a normal life. It interferes with their personal as well as professional life. Due to this anxiety, people cannot perform their ordinary or normal functions properly because of incessant worrying about having HIV. What is worse is when they develop some of the symptoms related to HIV. This will lead to more worrying and to the exacerbation of their depression.

The best way to deal with it is to get tested. One has to subject oneself to an HIV test. However, having subjected oneself to an HIV test does not always result to the termination of HIV anxiety. In fact, there are cases where people who have been tested negative for HIV still continue to worry about having it. The continuous existence of some HIV related symptoms might be attributed to this.

In cases where there is still continuous anxiety of having HIV despite a negative test result in the HIV test, therapy sessions are recommended by professionals. This continuous anxiety of having AIDS may be triggered by stress or chemical imbalances in the body. Hence, it is important to seek professional advice on this matter to know if one is required to take medication. One also has to do ones part in coping with this anxiety such as having a well-balanced meal, lessening caffeine, and performing relaxing methods such as meditation or yoga.

HIV anxiety might be difficult to deal with especially if it interferes too much in ones personal and professional life. However, it can be treated and its adverse effects can be alleviated or stopped. It must also be remembered that prevention is better than cure. Hence, always practice safe sex if one is unsure that ones sexual partner is HIV free.

Depression Attracts the Person Like Sea Waves!

A state of low mood and aversion to activity is a situation that can be defined in a single word 'depression' which, by the passage of time kills the ability of forbearance in a person, or in another way if we go in the depth of this word, we will fine its hidden meaning in the word itself and that is:

Damage of

Emotions

Purely by

Rebating

Economical,

Social and

Sensitive

Issues by an

Output equal to

Null.

When a person is mentally ill or upset, obviously he is not able to concentrate on anything not even his favorite activities.

The control on our sentiments and reactions is in our own hands. Our Lord has given us senses to identify what is beneficial and we can easily figure out things which are harmful for us.

It is unfortunate how and we let negativity capture our minds and take control! Why not let happiness and positive thoughts fill up our mind leaving no space for negative thoughts.

In every human beings life a long or short span of depression takes place but it is his own decision that either he continues it for the life time or minimize its affect by controlling it initially.

Sometimes, people try to find shelter in their desolation but they are totally unaware of this fact that depression is like sea waves. If we stand idle by the sea shore, the waves pull us towards the centre of the sea and we get dragged with them, same is the case with depression, it also does the same with our mind and drags us in the depth of the sea of depression.

When we are in a happy mood, how relaxed we feel? As we accept the gloominess, in the same way we can develop a good humor in our personality which is an opponent or can say an antidote for depression and that is the direct way of contentment for a person. As in a gloomy state of mind, a person does not take interest in anything, similarly in a happy mood he overcomes the negative issues in a light way.

Low depressed mood, lack of energy, feeling of little or no worth, withdrawal and being unable to cope with daily tasks are those problems which are faced by the people with manic depressive illness and these problems can be sorted out by fighting against your own weakness and overcoming the affects of such problems.

Life is the drama of the world, we are the actors and our Lord is the director but He has given us the authority to decide, which character we would like to play, happy and a lively character or a sad and gloomy one.

What to Do When Your Teenager Gets in Trouble

Parenting a teenager has never been an easy job. Almost overnight, parents see the child they've raised since he was a baby turn into a mouthy, angry, sullen, almost adult. Communications during this time can be extremely difficult and explosive, if they're possible at all.

Adding to this explosive emotional stew is the fact that teenagers think that they both know everything and are indestructible. Not surprisingly, this can lead to trouble at home, school and, worst of all, with the law. ?But, as most adults can recall, most teenagers are going to get in some kind of trouble, that's just part of growing up. So how can a parent tell the difference between troubled teens and normal adolescent struggles? And when should a parent reach out for help outside of the family?

Here are a few of the warning signs that indicate your teenager may be in trouble that is beyond normal teenage shenanigans and how to address them.

Has your child stopped hanging out with old friends and started hanging out with an entirely new set of friends? On its own, this may be a normal part of growing up. Make sure you meet your child's friends and, subtly, let them know that you are involved in your child's life. If your child won't let you meet their new group of friends, this could be a sign that they are trying to keep something from you. ?

Another major indication of trouble is a drop in grades and interest in school. This doesn't mean that you should begin drug testing if your child gets a "C" in calculus. But it's not normal if your enthusiastic and cooperative student suddenly stops turning in homework. Be sure to keep in contact with your teenager's teachers both at conference time and during the year.

Mood swings are another normal part of adolescence, but extreme mood swings are not. Extreme mood swings could be a sign of major depression. Signs of depression could include changes in eating or sleeping habits. Teenagers who suddenly drop out of social circles and extracurricular activities may also be experiencing problems.

Treating depression could be as simple as a few sessions with a therapist, or prescription anti-depression medication. In some severe cases, doctors may advise parents to look at therapeutic boarding schools.

The teenage years are frustrating for everyone involved. But parents who stay on top of their child's behavior and take action when they see signs of trouble will be thankful that they did.

Living Alone - Overcoming the Fear, Loneliness and Depression Caused by Being on Your Own

No matter what circumstances leave you with the probability of living alone, it can be a frightening prospect. Often those who are faced with it are also coping with the life changing situation that will lead up to it, death, divorce, illness, or children leaving home. Usually it involves the loss of someone we depended on for something. More than one person has told me they simply can't be alone. They haven't tried being alone long enough to adjust to it. Instead they find someone to fill the void as quickly as possible and end up with an endless succession of destructively bad relationships.

Somebody who lived in a small town once asked if I was afraid to drive in ten lanes of traffic. I said, "I only drive in one lane at a time." That's the way people who do well living alone say they manage being by themselves without fear and worry. Make one decision at a time when you need to. Resolve one issue at a time when it comes up. When I catch myself beginning to get anxious about something that hasn't happened, I say, "That's just negative speculation." It's just as easy to speculate positively, so I redirect my imagination to a positive scenario. And guess what, almost none of the problems we worry about ever materialize. Fear in the form of worry and anxiety is an energy robbing exercise in futility.

Instead of thinking of your future alone as a timeless battle of wits between you and everything you think you don't know, think of it as an adventure. It's a contest of wits between your cowardly self and your courageous self. If the courageous one wins enough times, the cowardly one will just go off and die. Hallelujah! So what if you make a mistake, or a ton of mistakes? You deal with the consequences, learn from it and move on. If you don't beat yourself up, at least no one will be waiting at home to do it for you. I love that part the best.

Loneliness and Depression come about when we dwell on how we feel. They are both extremely selfish conditions no matter what causes them. They are self perpetuating. You will become more depressed thinking about how depressed you are. It's a mindset. Depressed people give reasons all day why they can't do anything about their condition except take a pill. Losing interest is a symptom of depression. It's also a symptom of selfishness and laziness.

Instead of saying to yourself, "I'm depressed." Say, "I'm feeling sad right now." That puts a short time limit on it and sets your mind free to do something about it. If you defy your dark mood each time it rears its ugly head, you will win in the end. Go outside for at least an hour a day whether you want to or not. Science has proven we need daylight. Walk. Sit in front of an open window. Stop using chemicals to treat symptoms in your natural body. Eat fruit instead of sugar, raw vegetables instead of fat and starches.

To abolish loneliness, volunteer where people are helping people. If you can't get out, volunteer to call shut ins. Let them talk. If they talk about negative things, look at it as an opportunity to practice being positive. Think of ways to help your neighbors. Pray for people. Talk to God when you're lonely. He is infinitely loving and understanding. You can stay in bed and do that. Surprise your family or neighbors by doing something thoughtful for them. Join a group. Go to the library. Refuse to watch anything if it isn't funny. Make eye contact and smile when you see people. Take a class. Get a hobby. Instead of saying, "I can't." Say, "I will." Then do it. Drive in one lane at a time, but don't stop moving forward.

People who devote themselves to thinking about the needs of other people may sometimes feel depressed or lonely, but it's a right now thing. It doesn't last. It isn't a chronic condition. Be the one who helps instead of the one who needs help. You can't do everything, but you can do something. If you do as much as you can, you will help make the world better. You will most certainly make your world better.

Treating Depression Naturally Should Come Naturally

Treating depression naturally is much easier than any other way involving prescription medication. There are less worries about probable side effects, less regret, and more hope for the future of your mental health. More options are available to you when you step outside of the box and consider treating depression without drugs. There are only a limited amount of options to choose from when you decide to medicate with prescriptions, and the possibilities are much more limited.

Psychotherapy is one of the ways you can go about treating depression without drugs. It involves no medicine whatsoever, just you and a psychotherapist who is experienced and familiar with what you are going through. In this type of therapy, you and your counselor will work together to find different ways that work for you to help you overcome your emotional difficulties.

A different way of treating depression naturally is by using natural remedies. It is important that you be aware that natural remedies are not considered to be medications. The most used and highly recommended are SAM-e and St. John's Wort. These two herbal remedies are a synthetic form of a naturally occurring chemical inside of the body. They have been proven most effective for treating the symptoms of depression.

If you are taking any other types of prescription medications, you need to consult your physician before adding these remedies to your daily supplement regimen because there is always the risk of side effects when combine them with unnatural treatments.

Obtaining daily exercise is another way of treating depression naturally. Exercising can also prevent depression symptoms from coming back. It boosts the chemicals in the brain that all medications try to promote: serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. Each of these chemicals have been proven to become imbalanced during depression. It also decreases the amount of cortisol in the body, which has been known to contribute toward weight gain. Individuals who are overweight have also been known to experience an additional amount of depression due to their physical appearance.

Another way to go about treating depression without drugs is to obtain extra daily amounts of folic acid, omega-3 fatty acids, and B vitamins. Try eating more raw fruits and vegetables along with adding more salmon, tuna, and trout. For folic acid, you can either choose to take an additional supplement or eat more whole-wheat breads, peas, beans, spinach, and broccoli-or both.

Natural remedies and treatments can be used for those with depression, as well as for those who want to prevent it without any worries pertaining to side effects, expensive doctor bills, or doubts concerning ineffectiveness.

Everyone is bound to become depressed at some point or another. Sadly, depression is very common and it really shouldn't be. You should always remember to get enough sleep and relaxation time as well. Sometimes when people are depressed, their bodies are just simply worn down. We live in a world full of demands and responsibilities.

Treating depression naturally is a lot less complicated than what you may think, and a lot more effective. It worked for me, and it can work for you.

Positive Thinking Stories

Sometimes people under estimate the power of positive thinking. You can use motivation and positive thinking to help achieve anything that you would like to achieve. Your goal could be losing weight, buying a house, get a new job, or anything you decide.

Here is an example of a positive thinking story. There was a guy named Joe who worked for a company and was trying to use that money to pay his bills and pay his way for post secondary education. Unfortunately one day something not too pleasant happened, he got fired from his job and he did not exactly know what the reason was.

However one day he found out that it was not that he was doing anything bad it is just that the company had to lay off a number of people and he happened to be one of them. After hearing this he was quite depressed however he was reading some positive thinking books which helped him change the way that he was feeling about his situation.

He realized that the job gave him good experience and something beneficial that he could add to his resume. He was motivated to find another job this time something that he knew would be permanent and maybe benefit him even more then the other one did. The best thing that happened to him was that within three weeks the job called him back to offer him a permanent position within the company.

This was definitely something positive. Sometimes you must realize that even though something bad happens in your life something positive is sure to follow if you stay positive. Remember that many people cruise through life not having a clue about what they want, and just simply react to what comes along, they either choose to accept it or reject it. It is up to you to choose what you want to do.

Men and Depression - How to Help a Depressed Man and Keep Your Relationship Strong

What? Men don't get depressed? Of course we do, but we tend to hide it well.

Men tend to deal with depression differently than women and may show different signs that they are depressed. Depression is often a hidden problem with men, since many men tend to suffer in silence, rather than talking about their feelings.

And that can lead to relationship problems.

Historically, depression has been thought of as mostly a problem for women, but now we know that depression is a problem for men, too. Depression in men may go undetected. In fact, men may not realize they are depressed, although they may recognize they are feeling stressed. And their health care providers often miss the telltale signs.

Depression is a normal part of life. Yet, if it goes unresolved, it can have a disastrous affect on personal functioning, relationships and careers. It can result in temporary personality changes, uncharacteristic bouts of anger and moodiness, create communication problems, spur conflict, and lead to relationship problems or marital distress. Thus, depression is a condition that must be recognized and treated for men to function on their highest level.

What Are The Signs?

1. Men who are depressed may suddenly become irritable and quick to anger. Non-aggressive men may become more aggressive and hostile.

2. Some may abuse alcohol or drugs, or turn to food for comfort, although some may eat less. It really depends on the person and his circumstances.

3. Some men may over-exercise, while others may stop.

4. One man may throw himself into a favorite hobby whereas a workaholic may become more dependent upon work ...while ignoring his relationships.

5. Men may show typical signs of depression, too, such as, feelings of fatigue and burn-out, sleep disturbances and decreased libido. Thought patterns may change; men may think more negatively and perceive the world in darker, more threatening ways. This can be a subtle change. Depressed men may start feeling anxious and worried, and respond poorly to daily problems or stress at work or home, either over-reacting or under-reacting.

Men may not discuss the way they are feeling with anyone, and may not recognize the changes themselves. As a result of societal conditioning, they tend not to talk about their stress with their friends, unlike women, who tend to get support from other women.

And the impact their depression can have on their family life and primary relationships is often nothing short of devastating.

Strategies for Helping A Depressed Man

First, if you notice that a man you care about is depressed, don't beat him over the head with your observations; be careful how you approach the subject, or you may make your relationship problems worse. You might try sharing your concern with him, mentioning that you have noticed one or two of his symptoms. Go gently ...and see if you can get him to open up about how he's feeling. Express your concern. Avoid being critical. Don't blame. Just listen and tell him how concerned you are.

Second, if you know someone the depressed man knows and respects, such as his father, pastor or best friend, suggest that he talk to that person. Or, you may enlist the help of a family member or close friend who has his ear.

Third, try to get him to see his doctor (or yours), and encourage him to talk to his doctor about his depressed feelings (maybe he needs to go for other reasons, too). The physician can make a referral for counseling or prescribe helpful anti-depressant medication, if needed.

Fourth, sometimes we men need a little prodding (and pampering). Be persistent and don't give up, as long as you proceed in a non-threatening manner. Remember, you want the man to view your efforts to help him as a sign of your deep-felt concern, rather than an attempt to nag or harass him. He won't end up feeling pressured by you if you always state your concern in non-demanding ways.

The way you say something is as important as what you say. Some sensitive men are hard to approach, but they tend to respond favorably when you talk to them in a direct, caring and gentle manner. Avoid allowing your body language or tone of voice to express anger or contempt.

Consider the impact depression can have on relationships, especially intimate ones. A man's marriage can suffer because of his depression, and he may not realize what's wrong. His wife will feel the impact, as well; so, his biggest support system may be compromised, which only compounds the problem.

Counseling

If you are in an intimate relationship with a depressed partner, it is often best to seek counseling. It is much easier and more effective to sit down with a trained relationship professional to discuss your relationship problems.

Counseling is one of the best ways to face and deal with depression. It can be just as effective as medication, if not more so. The combination of the two can be even more effective.

Sometimes depression can become quite serious and lead to other mental health issues. It is best to take it seriously.

Depression and Your Relationship

Without a doubt, the depression of one spouse can injure the other. And it can have a derogatory impact upon the relationship in general, giving both partners a sense of despair, and causing them to view the relationship in pessimistic terms.

Also, long-term depression can keep a relationship down. It is difficult for the non-depressed spouse to keep a positive attitude when he/she has to deal with an unhappy, sad or anxious spouse who has been depressed for a long time. Frequently, the spouse of the depressed person will blame himself/herself or interpret the depressed spouse's actions as a rejection.

Suggestions

Depressed men may not know they are depressed and may not recognize the signs, and often choose not to talk about the problem. Yet depression can have a derogatory affect on relationships, careers and all areas of life.

To help a depressed man, look for signs of depression, such as behavioral changes, and talk to the depressed man in a sympathetic way. Avoid allowing depression to remain in the closet. Give the man in your life, whether it be your husband, father, brother or friend, lots of support and encouragement. Establish communication about your concerns.

Depression can have a serious impact on your marriage, and can cause serious relationship problems.  Deal with it as a couple. Help your spouse get the help he needs. If there are problems in your relationship that are contributing to the depression, it is wise to address them. Don't allow depression to rob you of joy and happiness. Face it, find solutions and move on!
