Depression is not always obvious. It can start out subtle, taking a parent time to recognize a problem. One day the child may seem as though he or she does not feel well. The depression will continue and get worse.

Clinical Depression - When Life Is Just Too Hard

No human being has ever walked the planet Earth for any length of time without experiencing sadness, a feeling of isolation, or anger. Those feelings may be triggered by any number of events, from the loss of a loved one to the fear which arises from the loss of one's livelihood, to the sense of failure resulting when something for which one had worked very hard did not materialize.

Most people, while they may at first feel emotionally devastated by a bad outcome, are in a reasonably short time to move on and face life again. But in those who cannot shake off their feelings of loss and grief, and find themselves too overwhelmed to even perform their basic daily tasks, clinical depression may be developing.

The Fun Is Gone

Clinical depression goes beyond appropriate sadness and literally takes over the life of its sufferers. They often find themselves without purpose, unable to, and not interested in, getting out of bed in the morning. Even those who force themselves to perform necessary tasks like eating and grooming themselves do not enjoy it. Some victims of clinical depression may seek comfort in chemical of alcohol abuse; in the most severe cases, clinical depression can cause a person to become suicidal.

One of the characteristics of clinical depression is that it continues for several weeks or months. Because of the length of its duration, the victim can suffer physical effects if he or she stops eating, exercising, or attending to any medical needs.

Clinical depression [http://www.treatdepressionhelp.com/Clinical_Depression/] differs from bipolar disorder, or manic depression, as it is sometimes called; sufferers of bipolar disorder move from being severely depressed to being manically happy. In clinical depression, there are no such mood swings. It may take some time for a correct diagnosis, because bipolar mania does not occur in a regular pattern.

Depression Is Never Normal

There is a widely-held belief that as the elderly, those who are ill, or those in stressful financial straits are simply reacting normally if they become clinically depressed. But clinical depression is not a normal mental state, and will not disappear on its own.

One of the three types of clinical depression, depression with psychotic features, in fact, can be so severe that it causes hallucinations and delusions. Clinical depression is thought to contribute to almost fifty percent of all suicides.

Given the fact that an estimated nineteen million Americans suffer at least one bout of clinical depression each year, public awareness of the signs of clinical depression and the availability of treatment should be made a priority.

How I Overcame Chronic Depression With Brainwave Entrainment Meditation

This is a little insight to my experience that brought me to Brainwave Entrainment Meditation. Due to a very unpleasant experience in my childhood, I suffered from Chronic Depression and Social Anxiety Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Fun, I know! ;)

I went to traditional therapy to attempt to overcome this. I was placed on various medications that produced even worse side-effects (Insomnia, Muscle Spasm, Loss of Appetite/Sex Drive to name a few!) And after years of this wonderful time, I still felt less than hopeful and was becoming more jaded by the day about ever truly feeling happy and alive.

One day, I decided that I had enough and I would no longer accept this as my day-to-day life. I did a search on the internet and found an amazing program that seemed to be beneficial toward eliminating what I was experiencing using a technology called Brainwave Entrainment in the form of a Meditation Program. Was I skeptical?! OH YES! But, as the saying goes.... "What did I have to lose?" ?? Nothing! I had everything to win and gain.

I began a daily practice of Meditation. I would sit each evening for one hour to focus on my emotional state and become more conscious of my thought processes. I listened to the CD audio that took me from a Beta frequency down to a Delta frequency within the first half hour and then kept me in the Delta state the entire second half hour. As I began this experience, I started to have random thoughts and memories come up that I had no recall of. Things that were deeply planted within my subconscious were coming to the surface of my awareness. I would allow them to be, without judgment, understanding that they had been in my unconscious and were driving the results of my reality. I felt blessed to be able to release them and know with full conviction that they would no longer be working in the background and keeping me from creating what I desired in life.

I kept up with this practice, and still practice, for 6 years now. Though, I didn't wait for life to happen. Each day was a new and rewarding experience. As more and more "garbage" was released my reality changed and altered, becoming something I had dreamt of for my entire life.

To make a really long and interesting journey short, let me just say this...

1. I truly eliminated depression, anxiety and fears out of my life. BYE BYE! (No more medications!)
2. I gained a renewed sense of wanting to be alive and participating in life.
3. I learned to love myself, maybe for the first time!
4. I attracted a very loving relationship and developed intimate friendships.
5. I allowed money into my life and abundance on other levels, too.

...I could go on and on about the numerous benefits I've experienced with Meditating with Brainwave Entrainment. I am so grateful that this worked for me.

I have come across many descriptions and heard numerous real-life experiences about PTSD - for me, this is the most important factor to look at when dealing with your depressive issues and anxiety.
What exactly IS PTSD? Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is the clinical definition.

It is literally the Disorder of Experiencing Stress after (Post) a Traumatic event (Car Accidents, Sexual Abuse, Going to War). Now, every Car Accident isn't going to be classified as Traumatic and it doesn't have to do with what actually happens, but more how the individual person reacts to that experience.

So, getting pulled over for a speeding ticket may be traumatic for someone (just an example) and for others' accidentally killing a deer may be traumatic! (speaking from my own experience - Sorry, Bambi!)

What are some symptoms of PTSD? PTSD can manifest as depression, anxiety, stress. Having flashbacks (mental images) of the experience is common. Having a sensitive nervous system - with the shakes and feeling numb in the body/mind. Random crying and extreme bouts of Anger, especially for me. It varies for each individual.

I told myself that I MUST write an article about my experience. I don't think anyone should ever have to be depressed to the point of not wanting to be involved with life. I just hope my story and experience will be able to help others feel hope that they truly can experience a different type of life - HAPPY! Blessings, Love and Light.

An Effective Way to Stop Your Divorce - Recognize 4 Signs of Mild Depression

Depression is a major reason for marriage problems and divorces. It can cause good marriages, between two good people who really care and love each other, to fall apart. It doesn't directly cause divorce but, indirectly this is what happens.

How?

One of the couple begins to suffer from this debilitating disorder and the "non-sufferer" tries to be supportive and to stay by their side. The condition is not properly dealt with and it intensifies. The "non-sufferer" feels tremendous loneliness and feels a tremendous burden to run the family single-handedly. It becomes too much for them to handle and they become worn down and then some big marriage problems begin.

In this article, I will show you how to identify the symptoms of mild depression so that you can catch the depression "in the bud" before it escalates into major depression and stop your divorce.

1. Changes in personality. One of the telltale signs of depression is when the person feels gloomy, short tempered, and very impatient. Men might physically fight over insignificant matters. Women might begin to cry or sob for no apparent reason. If your spouse who is normally patient, gentle, and happy, shows very untypical behavior, he is probably suffering from depression.

2. Difficulty to concentrate. Another revealing symptom of depression is when the person has difficulties to concentrate and becomes very indecisive. He lacks the energy and the focus to "think things through" and to properly assess situations. She can therefore make some very bad mistakes (and expensive) mistakes at work. It might even be difficult for him to understand the obvious plot on a television show.

3. Low self-confidence. When the sufferer of depression begins to realize what is happening to him, then he begins to lose confidence in himself. What do you expect? How can he be confident and sure in what he does when he starts fights over nothing or makes one bad and costly decision after another? This lowers his self-confidence, which in turn pushes him deeper into depression.

4. Change in sleep patterns. This symptom has two totally opposite guises.

Sometimes it causes the person to sleep excessively; they go to sleep early, they get up late, and in addition to this, they also take a nap in the middle of the day! However, sometimes, it causes the complete opposite; they have trouble falling asleep, they wake up periodically in the middle of the night, and they wake up very early in the morning.

Although changes in sleep patterns have two opposite guises, don't be fooled, they both are the result of the same disorder - depression.

Depression can wreck havoc even in the best marriages and can destroy solid families. If you see that your spouse shows any of the four above symptoms, then don't hesitate, and look for help as quick as you can. If you catch depression in its beginning stages, you will be able to stop your divorce from ever happening and once again have a happy functional marriage.

Bipolar Disorder and the Disability Tax Credit

Bipolar disorder, which used to be known as manic-depressive disorder, affects about one percent of Canada's population. The disorder is marked by periods of emotional highs, called mania, alternating with periods of emotional lows, called depression. The level of emotion in these moods is disproportionate or unrelated to the events and situations a person is facing in his or her life at the time.

The mood swings of bipolar disorder can be mild or they can be severe. They may change over time and with a dependence on the other circumstances a person is facing. For example, in times of high stress, the episodes may be more pronounced.

Bipolar disorder has a tendency to run in families. The root causes are unknown, but an imbalance in brain chemistry is suspected. This is because of the way that medications which work in reducing symptoms function. Recurrence of the cycle of manic and depressive symptoms throughout a person's lifetime is usual, especially when left untreated.

During the manic period, a person might be irritable and argumentative as well as euphoric. Other symptoms include rapid fire speech patterns and complaints of racing thoughts, a sensation of not needing to sleep, and an exaggerated sense of self-esteem. Impulsive and reckless behaviour are common, even criminal and dangerous behaviours. This is because of a feeling of invincibility. In the most extreme cases, there may be hallucinations and delusions as well.

During the depressive period, there are feelings of hopelessness, an increase in sleeping and/or eating, a decreased interest in things that used to give pleasure, and thoughts and expressions of self-denigration. Thoughts of suicide may occur. Attempts are rarer, but are higher among those with bipolar disorder than in the general population.

Either phase may be triggered by stress, alcohol or drug abuse, and changes in daily routine that disrupt established sleep patterns. Work and school performance can be adversely impacted in those with bipolar disorder. Relationships may become strained. Prolonged mental illness impacts physical health, too. Body aches may occur, due to a lack of restful sleep and elevated levels of cortisol. Appetite fluctuations lead to weight gain, weight loss, and poor nutritional status.

Even with medication, many people with bipolar disorder are unable to keep a regular job. That can lead to financial difficulties. The Disability Tax Credit may be available to those with bipolar disorder. The requirements are that the applicant have a significant impairment in two or more abilities that are needed in daily life and a marked impairment in one such ability, and the condition must have been present for a continuous period of one year. A supporting family member can take the credit, if the disabled person does not earn any taxable income.

When applying, it is important to complete the paperwork accurately. Even people who would have qualified have been denied because of errors or omissions in the documentation. An experienced professional can take care of the filing for you. Their familiarity with the requirements of the Canada Revenue Agency ensures that everything is done correctly.
